I løbet af året har rygterne svirret om adskillige gigantiske remasters af ikoniske 3D Mario-spil, der skulle udkomme på Switch i anledning af karakterens 35 års jubilæum. Nu er vi i september, og der er endnu ikke sket noget. Faktisk har Nintendo ikke sagt et pip om deres planer, udover at løfte sløret for Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
Men skal man tro én insider, så er spillene fortsat på vej, og de udkommer i år. I podcastet Nate the Hate påstår værterne at kende til planerne, og de har fået udtalt sig korrekt om Nintendos gøren og laden. Her påstås det, at afsløringen er forsinket, men at spillene fortsat er planlagt til udgivelse i 2020.
"I think now it's going to be positioned more as a holiday game than as they had originally planned. I believe the original plan was that the 3D collection was going to come out in September, had these games been announced in June... then we probably would have had 3D World Deluxe follow it in either October of maybe even early November. Now that's completely scrapped. Then we're potentially looking at 3D collection either being early October... or the 3D collection is going to come out in November and be positioned as a prime holiday title, with a Mario-themed console, dock and all of that. Then I think you're going to see 3D World Deluxe get delayed out of the 35th anniversary party and it's going to come out in January 2021."
Samlingen der bliver talt om hedder eftersigende "Super Mario 3D All-Stars", og indeholder restaurerede udgaver af blandt andet Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine og Super Mario Galaxy.
