Den karismatiske Peter Molyneux har en evne til at dele spilpublikummet i to, for enten er man ofte vild med mandens passion, originalitet og tendens til at snakke ufiltreret om spilbranchen, og ellers er man træt af at han lover mere end han ofte viser sig at kunne holde.
Ikke desto mindre er Molyneux nu igen ude med en lettere kontrovers udtalelse i et interview med USGamer, hvor han fortæller, at han mener at grådige udviklere gennem Facebook- og mobilspil har forpurret en stor del af gratis-markedet:
...to make a great game, sometimes you have to upset people, sometimes people will say, oh -- there's this fanatical, almost paranoid fear of mobile that PC gamers have, which is crazy. Because mobile is a fantastic gaming device. But they feel that free-to-play is the most toxic, radioactive thing that's going to destroy games. They feel that no game on touch is worth looking at. That's because us gamers have been abused by Facebook gaming and mobile gaming for so long, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't do it."
