Bluepoint forsøger at bevare det originale Shadow of the Colossus

Under årets E3-messe valgte Sony at vise nye klip fra allerede eksisterende titler, men de havde alligevel nogle få és i ærmet, og blandt dem var et remake af Shadow of the Colossus, som laves af remake-mestrene hos Bluepoint Games. Siden da har fans vist sig at være delte omkring præcis hvad Bluepoint egentlig skal lave om. Nogle ser gerne at styringen og mekanikkerne opdateres, så spillet kan nydes af flere, hvorimod andre går mere puritansk til værks, og mener at ændringerne ødelægger det originale værk.

Denne lidt besværlige situation har Bluepoints producer, Randall Lowe, udtalt sig om i et interview med Game Informer, og her fortæller han at de forsøger at bevare det originale spil.

"Their [Team Ico's] design sensibilities were amazing. The use of coloring areas, the use of fog, the way they conveyed emotion without driving it through dialogue, they're masters of it. Maintaining that is really hard. It is a lot of conscious work to make sure that just by beatifying something, just by bringing it up to what people expect modern games to look like, you don't break them. I think that's the most time we spend internally,"

"We spent a lot of time making sure we were as aware of this stuff as the community was. We did our best to maintain the integrity of the original game. Without giving away anything, players should be able to expect that what they were able to do in the past should carry forward".

Desuden fortæller Lowe, at spillere har muligheden for både at spille med en opdateret styring, samt benytte den originale.
